The Modern is a 47 story, 450 unit rental tower at 800 Park Avenue in Fort Lee, completed in 2014 with broad views of the George Washington Bridge. SJP Properties developed the building, which was designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects.
The tower has reflective glass façades, angled indentations along its narrow east and west elevations, and an entrance approached by a circular drive with a fountain. It was conceived as the first of two matching towers separated by a 1.75 acre public park.
The building devotes 75,000 square feet to amenities, including a 24 hour doorman, concierge, infinity pool, fitness center, spa and sauna, basketball and volleyball courts, screening room, business center, game room, golf simulator, and residents lounge. The grounds add barbecue stations, a lawn with a large outdoor screen, a children’s play area, a covered dog walk, and a pet spa.
Apartments have 9 foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, open kitchens, in-unit laundry, and individually controlled thermostats in living rooms and bedrooms. Several floor plans use angled living and dining rooms or window walls that follow the tower’s faceted ends, while open kitchen islands recur in larger layouts.
