175 3rd Street is a mixed-use, 27-story, one million-square-foot tower developed by Charney Companies and Tavros, and located on the Gowanus waterfront. The design by Bjarke Ingels Group is distinguished by a dynamic silhouette that connects on the east side to form a descending U shape, framing the water as the focal point and maximizing access to light, air, and outdoor space. It is being designed as an Ultra-Low-Energy building with an electrified structure projected to exceed energy code requirements.
The project features a new public park along the Gowanus Canal, a mix of retail and artist spaces on the ground floor, and over 1,000 new housing units, at least 250 of which will be affordable. Oversized windows promise abundant natural light.
175 3rd Street will offer 40,000 square feet of fitness, social, and family-friendly amenities, including an indoor soccer field, a karaoke lounge, a courtyard, and a roof terrace with loung areas, an outdoor pool, and views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The building will also be home to a three-story Life Time fitness center with cardio and strength areas, group fitness studios, pickleball courts, a "wet suite" with saunas and steam rooms, and longevity services.
The public park is set to offer a multi-use recreation court, a dog run, fitness nooks, a mounted lawn, art sculptures, and a variety of plantings and seating areas. 175 3rd Street is located in close proximity to Powerhouse Arts, 3rd Avenue dining, Whole Foods, and the Union Street R train.
