Built in 1992 by Adellco and designed by Avinash K. Malhotra, the building was previously known as The Elektra until 2014 and originally served as a residence for hospital employees. Developer Matthew Adell, who also created the Capitol at Chelsea and the Aston on Sixth Avenue, transformed this property along with the Instrata Nomad as part of his portfolio expansion.
The building's distinctive architecture features a pronounced façade with varying balcony configurations - the lower half offers four balconies per floor while the upper half has two, creating visual interest along Third Avenue. The structure is enhanced by blue gray brick accents on floors 2 through 4 and blue gray banding throughout the beige brick tower on floors 5 through 20. The top two floors are strategically setback at the north and south ends, providing an elegant crown to the mid block tower. Inside, residents enter through a sophisticated lobby featuring polished desert lagoon marble floors with mother of pearl and white onyx accented limestone.
The building's 166 apartments have been newly renovated and feature floor to ceiling windows, slate or granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances with in unit washers and dryers. Kitchens are equipped with Whirlpool appliances and European gray slate countertops, while bathrooms showcase black absolute granite vanity tops with premium fixtures. Unit layouts range from studios to two bedrooms, with Apartment A offering a 23 foot long living room and Apartment C featuring a 17 foot long living area with 14 foot wide balconies on the upper floors.
