Overview of 125 Central Park North

125 Central Park North is an 11 story, 17 residence Harlem condominium facing the northern edge of Central Park. Originally constructed in 1900, the building later served as Hale House, a children’s shelter, before its 2006 condominium conversion and four story enlargement.

Peter Franzese designed the conversion, with Gueva J. Lutz and Sara Olsen responsible for the added upper floors. The original structure has a rusticated stone base with arched entrances, a red brick façade, and decorative window surrounds; the grey upper addition is set back from the earlier street wall.

Many apartments face south over Central Park and the Harlem Meer, while several layouts also have north exposures. Balconies and terraces extend a number of residences, and in-unit laundry is common. Penthouse 5 is the most structurally distinctive home, arranged as a duplex beneath a broad private roof terrace.

The building has an attended lobby and virtual doorman security. Central Park and the Harlem Meer are directly across the street, with the Conservatory Garden farther east inside the park. The Central Park North 110th Street station at Lenox Avenue, less than a block east, serves the 2 and 3 trains.
