Overview of Solow Townhouses at 222 - 242 East 67th Street
Solow Townhouses is a Lenox Hill rental development of pink granite clad townhouses created by developer Sheldon Solow and architect Eli Attia. Begun in 1983 as part of the development surrounding 265 East 66th Street, the row was the first new group of Manhattan townhouses built in decades. Its low rise scale contrasts with the adjacent 46 story black glass tower, designed by Gruzen & Partners.
The residences combine townhouse layouts with the services of a large luxury building. Duplex and triplex configurations range from roughly 2,100 square feet to more than 5,000 square feet, with high ceilings, wood burning fireplaces, private entrances, private outdoor space, and in unit laundry recurring among the homes. Several layouts use skylights, double height living areas, private gardens, terraces, or roof decks as major organizing features.
Residents have access to the amenities at 265 East 66th Street, including a 24 hour doorman and concierge, valet service, a full service garage with direct access, resident storage, and a penthouse level health club. The facilities include a fitness center, sauna, sundecks, glass enclosed heated indoor pool, central air conditioning, garden areas, and a rooftop terrace.
The development is on East 67th Street in Lenox Hill, amid the Upper East Side's townhouses, restaurants, shopping, and cultural institutions. The 68th Street Hunter College station, served by the 4 and 6 trains, is nearby, while the Lexington Avenue 63rd Street station serves the F train.
Solow Residential, founded in 1954 by Sheldon Solow, is a Manhattan-based manager of luxury rental apartments known for its sleek black-glass buildings and full-service amenities like 24-hour concierge and rooftop terraces.
