Carter Horsley's Review of The Black & Whites

Carter Horsley's Building Review
"There are 61 apartments in four nearly identical five-story buildings on this dead-end street overlooking the East River. The addresses are 527, 531, 535 and 541 East 72nd Street.

The buildings have red entrance doors and fire escapes and are at the opposite end of the block from Sotheby's, the auction house, on the York Avenue south comer. The area has been radically transformed since Sotheby's relocated here from Madison Avenue and 76th Street and it now has several luxury apartment towers." Read Carter's Full Review
Pros
  • Surrounded by several luxury apartment towers
  • Down the block from Sotheby's, the auction house
  • Elegant location overlooking the East River
  • Good cross-town bus service a block away at York Avenue
  • Many major hospitals nearby
  • Sidewalk landscaping
  • Cheery red entrance doors with white trim
Cons
  • Dead-end street
  • Fire escapes
  • No garage
  • No health club
