As construction winds down on The Frederick, an affordable housing lottery has launched for 59 apartments within. The 15-story building was constructed under New York's Extremely Low and Low-Income Affordability (ELLA) program, and New York households earning between $21,223 and $136,180/year are eligible to apply. The deadline is September 6, 2019.

All apartments will come outfitted with LED lighting and EnergyStar appliances. Building amenities will include a computer lab, study room, community room, laundry room, bike room, and outdoor recreation area. The building was named for its location on Harlem's iconic Frederick Douglass Boulevard and is conveniently located near the Apollo Theater, St. Nicholas Park, popular restaurants and shops, and the 125th Street subway stop.

In addition to new housing units, The Frederick will contain a 7,300-square-foot supermarket that is nearly double the size of the Bravo Supermarket demolished for the building's construction. It is being built under New York's FRESH program, and will have additional storage in the basement to make for a more streamlined shopping experience.
