Few places can make a 41-story building look small, but when your next-door neighbor is the 102-floor Empire State Building — a tower fit for King Kong and airships alike, Torikan Group's new rental at 42 West 33rd Street is just a modest addition to the cityscape. Tucked midblock between Broadway and Fifth Avenue in Midtown West, the Stephen B Jacobs Group-designed building sports a svelte glass façade, a masonry base and angled western wall allowing open sunset views to the west.
The new renderings, published on SBJG’s website, show the usual high-end rental offerings of floor-to-ceiling windows, open layouts, and an abundance of amenity spaces. There will be 223 rental apartments spread across 182,556 square feet of residential space, hinting that a bulk of the units may be studios and one-bedrooms. Andi Pepper Interior Design is handling the interiors and amenities will include a fitness center, swimming pool, spa, sauna and outdoor terraces.
The tower rises a stone’s throw away from transit-central Herald Square whose surrounding blocks have seen an influx of rental buildings over the years that include the Magellan, the Continental, and EOS. As we previously announced, TOWN will be handling marketing and leasing. Leasing is set to begin fall 2017.
