Following its official designation as a cathedral in 2013, the Co-Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Prospect Heights underwent an $18.5 million renovation and redecoration. More recently, the church hashed out plans for a new community and office buildingto rise from a church-owned parking lot next door at 860 Pacific Street. Plans were announced by DNAinfo last summer, and a recent visit revealed that construction has just begun.

Renderings show the new four-story, 47,000-square-foot building will have a contemporary design that does not ape the monumental Spanish Colonial styled cathedral next door. plans filed with the city call for basement production studios and screening rooms, and office space on the second through fourth floors. Amenities will include indoor parking and roof terraces.
