Just one penthouse remains at the 13-unit, ultra-luxury condominium 21W20 in Manhattan's Flatiron District and for $13.5 million, the nearly 5,000-square-foot abode with an impressive layout can be yours.

Located at 21 West 20th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, the new condominium is an exclusive residence from developer Gale International and architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle, with interiors by David Mann of MR Architecture + Décor. Its design is unique and unexpected; the structure rises 10 stories from a narrow lot before extending atop a restored, landmark-protected building to the west, creating a trio of 100-foot-wide, full-floor penthouse residences. Nearly all are sold or are in-contract, and the last to remain occupies the entire 11th floor and is the largest in the building. Penthouse 1, with 4,841 square feet of space, has four bedrooms (including a 1,000-square-foot master suite), four and a half baths, two private terraces, and expansive entertaining areas.

The penthouse has a keyed elevator entrance which opens to the central area of the home; an expansive living space, also ideal for entertaining, with a connected street-facing terrace, two seating areas, a fireplace and a feature wall. An open kitchen with an island is offset from the space, and also a media room with pocket doors pre-wired for advanced home theater systems. The east and west wings each have two bedrooms - all with en-suite baths and walk-in closets. The master suite is on the west wing and has a south-facing terrace with expansive views. The property is from Gale International, a real estate development firm with a focus on sustainability with more than 22 million square feet of certified sustainable space around the world. 21W20 follows the green model and recently achieved the honorable title as the first residential project in the world to receive a WELL Certification, a new livability standard that focuses on enhancing residents' health and well-being. The designation is based on seven categories of building performance including air and water quality, state-of-the-art lighting systems and sound attenuation. An event was recently held in Penthouse 1 when the developers were awarded with the silver plaque certification from the International WELL Building Institute.

The condominium is also pursuing LEED Certification which the developers expect to achieve by June 2017. The dual sustainability certification also makes the project the first in the world to receive both LEED and WELL Certifications.
