Soori High Line Getting Its Luxurious Wood And Metal Skin

SCDA Architects'under construction condominium, Soori High Line has begun installing its slatted wood, metal and glass facade, imported all the way from Italy. The 11-story mid-rise stands at 522 West 39th Street between Tenth and Eleventh avenues in West Chelsea. Chelsea, and recently topped out in May. Upon completion in 2017, the complex will host 27 condominium residences, 16 of which will have a pool. Soo Chan drew his design inspiration from colonial houses in his hometown in George Town, Malaysia. The developers are Siras Oriel Development, LLC, a joint venture between New York-based Siras Development and Singapore-based Oriel Development. The architects of record are Montroy Anderson DeMarco.

The façade of the building will be covered with thin and very tall windows with projected wood framing. Black edges break up the bulk of the exterior, and the base will feature sidewalk landscaping and an entrance marquee with warm wood cladding its underside.
There are currently four apartments for sale at Soori: one 2-bedroom unit starting from $3.5 million, two 3-bedrooms starting from $6.995 million, and one five-bedroom unit starting from $10.875 million. Prices will range from $3.5 million for a 2-bedroom to $19.75 million for the 5-bedroom triplex penthouse with four terraces and a private rooftop pool.
More than half of the units will feature a pool.
Tall, thin windows maximize light.
Interiors feature custom-designed, monochromatic finishes, such as white marble countertops and tall dark wood Duravit wardrobes by Poliform. They will each have their own fireplace, as well as motorized blinds and radiant heated floors. Bathrooms will host Boffi, Toto, and Dornbracht fixtures. Varenna Poliform chef’s kitchens will feature Miele and Sub-Zero appliances. Sixteen of the units will host pools that are 23- to 26-feet long, 7- to 9-feet wide, and 4-feet deep. The pools will connect to a heat pump system to ensure that water temperature maintains agreeable levels. Atop the building will sit two triplex penthouses with private roof decks.
Amenities at Soori High Line will include a concierge, a doorman, an elevator, a laundry facility, a parking garage, and private and bike storage. Special square cut-outs on the ground floor will allow gardens to thrive in the basement. The condominium will also feature a fitness center with a spa, steam room, and sauna, as well as a wine cellar/tasting area, a library, and a resident’s lounge.

Soori High Line is situated in West Chelsea, the epicenter of contemporary Art in Manhattan. Over 250 art galleries have graced the area in the last ten years, including Gagosian, Lehmann Maupin, Axelle Fine Art, Marianna Boesky, and Barbara Gladstone. The High Line is adjacent to Soori, offering residents an elevated escape to the hustle of the city. Also nearby is Manhattan’s treasured Whitney Museum.
Soori High Line is on its way to completion with its recent installation of a slatted wood and metal facade.
