A 7-story building is set to rise at 1753 East 12th Street in the Homecrest neighborhood of Brooklyn, a little-known area located south of Midwood and north of Sheepshead Bay. The project's size has changed since permits were first filed back in 2015, with the number of residential units increasing to 24 from the original amount of 12. Gerald Caliendo is listed as the architect of record and Nouri Chaya as the developer, although renderings of the project were revealed on the website of Brooklyn-based developers Rybak Development. The project's residential space will spread 17,642 square feet for an approximate average of 735 square feet per unit. Whether the building will hold condos or rentals has yet to be determined.

The renderings depict a modern concrete building with a gray exterior, floor-to-ceiling windows, and balconies starting on the second floor. Amenities include off-street parking spaces, a residential lobby and recreational space on the first floor, and four units each on floors two through seven. Residents will also enjoy a roof deck - a rare feature in this area of Brooklyn.
The development site is located just off Kings Highway, where a slew of restaurants and major stores reside. Expected completion for this project is set for early 2018.
