Slate Property Group’s new rental development in East Williamsburg is now underway. Situated at 432 Rodney Street on the corner of Hope Street, the site previously hosted a one-story industrial building that housed the Quaker Sugar Factory. Slate purchased the property last October 2015 for $31.5 million, tapping Aufgang Architects to design the new 70-foot-tall mixed-use residential building. The property was a brownfield site, and thus required cleanup and remediation earlier last summer before construction began.

The Brooklyn building will top out at 7 stories and will have 129 rental apartments. Inside, the building will host upwards of 99,000 square feet, with 85,200 square feet designated for residential space and 14,000 square feet designated for commercial space and ground floor retail. The new rendering reveals a building clad in glass and masonry with many large and corner windows. Amenities at the building will include a roof deck, a gym, and a recreation room.
