A nondescript one-story building situated within the Alphabet City section of the East Village is ready to undergo a significant transformation. DXA Studio has since released some renderings that show an avant-garde facade made of Danish handmade bricks accompanied by folding wood slatted screens to provide solar shading, as well as "unencumbered views when re-positioned to the far sides of the facade." These views will include a community garden located directly across the street. DXA Studio's renderings were also clearly influenced by the street art scene on the Lower East Side and may incorporate a full width mural along the lot-line, western wall of the structure.
619 East 6th Street will feature storage space for residents, a bike room and a private rooftop terrace for the 6th floor duplex. The five residences range from a cozy studio up to an expansive three-bedroom with an office.
