The Marc is a 43 story Midtown West rental tower whose open frame crown is illuminated in changing colors. Completed in 2004, the 394 unit building was designed by Frank Williams and developed by Joseph Moinian.
A beige brick slab rises from a low rise base, with a 20 foot lobby at street level. Upper floor layouts commonly begin with entry foyers and use enclosed or pass-through kitchens, while corner and floor-to-ceiling windows bring broad city exposures to many apartments. A building laundry room is supplemented by in-unit washers and dryers in some residences.
The service program includes a 24 hour doorman, concierge, attended lobby, live-in superintendent, valet services and a full service parking garage. Shared spaces include a fitness center, cinema room, resident lounge, party room, bike room and a landscaped 10,000 square foot sun deck. Pets are permitted.
The Marc occupies the Eighth Avenue block between West 53rd and West 54th streets. The Hearst Tower is two blocks north, with Columbus Circle and the southwest corner of Central Park several blocks beyond it; the Theater District extends through the blocks to the east and south.
This "well-oiled machine" of a luxury residence offers "prime Midtown positioning" near Central Park and theater district. The Marc dazzles with its "well-maintained" premises and "friendly" concierge staff who "always have a smile." While the "great neighbors" and "accommodating lease negotiations" earn praise, some grumble about "maintenance response times." Nevertheless, it remains "one of the better luxury buildings in NYC" with a "pleasant" community vibe that makes it a solid choice for "upscale Midtown living."
