Red Hook Stores at 275 Conover Street is a historic waterfront warehouse building dating to 1869 that was thoughtfully converted to residential use in 2006 by the O'Connell Organization with design by Doban Architecture. The 5-story red brick building features 23 rental apartments with distinctive architectural elements including large arched multi-paned windows, 13-15 foot ceilings, and exposed original details throughout.
The building incorporates numerous modern amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness center, landscaped roof deck, and an interior courtyard designed by landscape architect Lynden Miller. An on-site co-generation plant provides approximately 90% of the building's energy needs. The ground floor houses a Fairway Market, which reopened after sustaining damage during Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Notable for its waterfront location, the property offers panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty. Actor Michael Shannon was among the building's residents during its early conversion period. The building features a part-time doorman and select units include private parking spaces.
