Overview of 878 West End Avenue

878 West End Avenue is a 15 story pre-war co-op designed by Rosario Candela, with 60 apartments and an Italian Renaissance palazzo composition. Its white brick exterior rises from a two story limestone base with a canopied, double-height arched entrance; a broad cornice crowns the avenue façade but does not continue along the side street.

Many apartments have roughly nine foot ceilings, hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, moldings, entry foyers, and windowed kitchens. Corner layouts frequently receive light from two or three exposures, while upper floor residences have open city and skyline views. Many floors are arranged with four apartments.

The building has a live-in superintendent, full time porter, central laundry room, resident storage, bike room, and intercom, and in-unit washer dryers are permitted. Pets are allowed. The West 103rd Street entrance to Riverside Park is one block west, and the 1 train stops at the 103rd Street station on Broadway, one block east.

Price/Room (Est)

Why are we displaying the estimated price per room?

For some co-ops, instead of price per square foot, we use an estimate of the number of rooms for each sold apartment to chart price changes over time. This is because many co-op listings do not include square footage information, and this makes it challenging to calculate accurate square-foot averages.

By displaying the price per estimated room count, we are able to provide a more reliable and consistent metric for comparing sales in the building. While we hope that this gives you a clearer sense of price trends in the building, all data should be independently verified. All data provided are only estimates and should not be used to make any purchase or sale decision.
