The Alimar is part of the Riverside-West End Historic District Extension II, designated in 2015, and has undergone significant renovations to restore its original elegance.
The building's architectural features include a two-story rusticated limestone base, a sloping copper mansard roof, and ornate chimneys. Originally designed with only two apartments per floor, each unit boasted eleven rooms, including a library and multiple bedrooms. The interiors were characterized by Colonial-style fireplaces, mahogany paneling, and hardwood parquet floors, creating a sophisticated living environment.
In recent years, the apartments have been reconfigured, with more units per floor, but many still retain unique characteristics. For instance, the oversized studio apartments feature large entry foyers, multiple closets, and windowed kitchens.
