Review of 321 West 13th Street by Carter Horsley

The 7-story Gansevoort Condominium at 321 West 13th Street at the northern terminus of West 4th Street in the West Village was built in 1907 and converted in 1987 into 24 apartments.

Bottom Line

The most distinctive building on an unusual block with interesting layouts and fireplaces in the heart of the trendy Meatpacking District near the very popular Gansevoort Hotel.

Description

This handsome building, which is half a block from the very popular Gansevoort Hotel, has two oculi on its second floor, some arched windows on its 6th floor and a large circular opening in the center of its asymmetrical roofline.

It also has a building-wide marquee, a rusticated base and a buff-colored brick façade.

This is one of the area’s more interesting blocks with two very modern low-rise buildings interspersed with some very attractive older mid-rise buildings and a couple of buildings with fire-escapes, all close to the heart of the very trendy Meatpacking District.

Amenities

The building has an elevator and a video intercom system as well as a roof deck. It is pet-friendly.
