This attractive, mottled beige-brick, 19-story building was erected in 1930 and converted to a cooperative in 1987. It has 120 apartments.

The building, which across the street from the Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Martyr, has a nicely modulated facade with handsome limestone detailing around the canopied entrance, angled balconies, gargoyles and octagonal finials on terrace setbacks. It has sidewalk landscaping, a doorman, and handsome, large, multi-paned windows.

It is convenient to many restaurants and neighborhood shopping along Lexington and Third Avenues and is not far from many famous boutiques and art galleries on Madison Avenue. Although the nearest subway station is several blocks away, there is good bus service on this major cross-town street.
