Carter's Review

This attractive 14-story building at 230 West 105th Street on the southeast corner at Broadway has 70 apartments and was erected in 1917.

It was designed by Gaetan Ajello.

Bottom Line

This handsome, pre-war apartment building has large layouts and is one block from Straus Park, and two blocks from Riverside Park and the IRT subway.

Description

The white-brick building has a very attractive, rusticated base with a nice entrance surround and canopy with globular lights and sidewalk landscaping.

The building has bandcourses above the first, third, fourth and thirteenth floors.

It permits protruding air-conditioners and has fire escapes on one of its side façades.

Apartment 7A is a three-bedroom unit with an 11-foot-wide entry foyer that leads to a 25-foot-long living/dining room adjacent to an open, 19-foot-long kitchen and a 16-foot-long pantry that also leads to a 16-foot-long library.

Apartment 5A is a two-bedroom unit that has a 12-foot-long entry foyer that opens onto a 18-foot-square great room with an open kitchen with an island next to an 11-foot-long pantry.
