Overview of Brooklyn Music School Tower at 130 St. Felix Street

The building proposed at 130 St. Felix Street will be the latest mixed-use addition to the Brooklyn Cultural District to combine a cultural institution with residences above in an arrangement helps the community while providing much-needed apartments that help resolve the housing crisis. It will occupy a site that sits within a rarefied historic context, which includes classic Brooklyn rowhomes across the street, the Neo-Gothic Hanson Place Central United Methodist Church next door, and the adjacent One Hanson Place, which once stood as the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower and Brooklyn’s tallest building.

The Gotham Organization had previously planned a 23-story tower with 120 condos, a portion of which would be affordable, and increased institutional space for the Brooklyn Music School. However, this project ran into opposition from those who objected to how it would block views of and from One Hanson Place.

The Gotham Organization sold the site to Quinlan Development Group for $17 million in April 2026. Quinlan Development Group is planning a 23-story tower with 149 units, a portion of which will be affordable.

Quinlan Development Group has purchased the development site at 130 Saint Felix Street in Fort Greene for $17 million.
