The building is named after Adeline Waller, mother of legendary jazz pianist Fats Waller and wife of Reverend Waller, a minister at the Abyssinian Baptist Church. The light gray brick façade features seven thin black window surrounds and a syncopated setback, an intentional nod to the Jazz Age that cost additional construction funds but added architectural distinction.
