Carter's Review

While many "white" and "gray" brick buildings try to spruce up their appearance with limestone or polished granite bases, this attractive, 14-story, brown-brick apartment building has a one-story white-brick base.

It was erected in 1958 and was converted to a cooperative in 1985 with 165 units.

It is just to the south of an attractive movie theater on Second Avenue and half a block north of a supermarket on the avenue. It has a canopy and a marquee and an unusual but quite handsome angled, polished black granite "planter" ledge that contains black polished small stones in Japanese fashion. It has a doorman, a garage, a roof deck and discrete air-conditioners. It is across the street from an open lot operated by a patio furniture company that is adjacent to a ventilating station for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

This is a bustling area of the Upper East Side with considerable traffic that is close to the Queensborough Bridge. Despite considerable traffic, it is quite popular because of many nearby "luxury" apartment towers, many restaurants, good shopping and proximity to the Midtown Office District.
