Manage buildingThe Durst Organization acquired a Queens development site to build a 1,000-unit rental tower. The project includes preserving a landmark building, creating a public park, and renovating a subway entrance.
Sven is a 71-story, 737-foot high rental building located at 29-59 Northern Boulevard in Long Island City. The curved design by Handel Architects cradles the landmarked Queens Clock Tower. It is the first building in Queens to achieve LEED Platinum certification with such features as a green roof, an on-site cogeneration plant, an onsite blackwater recycling plant, and smart thermostats and energy-efficient appliances in every unit.
All 958 residences feature interiors by Selldorf Architects, oversized windows, light oak flooring, kitchens with high-end finishes and appliances, spa-inspired baths, and in-unit laundry. Over 50,000 square feet of amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, locker rooms with infrared saunas, a multi-sport simulator and putting green, a game room, a children's playroom, a chef's demonstration kitchen and dining room, a business center, a library, a lounge, and an outdoor pool with lounge chairs and green wall. Additional conveniences include a package room, private storage, and bike storage.
Sven Park is located outside the building, and Finback Brewery opened a taproom and production studio in the building in December 2023. It is located near MoMA PS1, SculptureCenter, Dutch Kills Green, Queensbridge Park, JACX&CO food hall, and the Queensboro Plaza and Queens Plaza transportation hubs.
