The City Planning Commission yesterday unanimously approved a proposed rezoning of the Far West Village that would limit the height and scale of new development.
The area of the new zoning, however, does not include two major development sites that some preservationists had campaigned to have included in the rezoning.
One is the Superior Ink Factory at 70 Bethune Street, which the Related Companies plans to redevelop.
The other is the Whitehall Storage site at Charles and West Streets, which the Witkoff Group plans to redevelop.
The rezoning proposal still needs to be approved by the City Council.
