Marketing has begun for 119 Chambers Street, a five-story residential condominium building in TriBeCa.

The building was erected in 1858 by the family of George H. Bend, who had a seat on the New York Stock Exchange and was a member of a family on Mrs. William Astor's 400 list.

The Italianate Revival building was built as a commercial structure and its early tenants included P. & H. Lewis & Brother that dealt in mean's furnishings, Wilson Brothers' Woodenware and Toy Company, John C. Hopkins Yacht Company, National Scientific Instruments and most recently by Ruby's Bookstore that was owned by the Sadofsky family.

The building has arched windows and four full-floor apartments.

David Kooy is the developer.

Alexander Compagno is the architect.

The building has fireplaces, a fitness room, storage units, original wood beam ceilings and exposed brick walls. Kitchens have Sub Zero refrigerators and Wolf ranges and ovens and Statuario marble countertops and white lacquer wall cabinetry. Bathrooms have 12-by-35-inch porcelanosa tiles.

The second floor unit has three-bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths and 2,240 square feet. The third floor unit has two bedrooms and two baths and 1,590 square feet. The fourth floor unit has three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths and 2,236 square feet. The penthouse duplex unit has three bedrooms and three baths and 2,238 square feet plus a 373-square-foot terrace and a 306-square-foot terrace.

The location is close to PS 234, one of the city's finest schools, TriBeCa and City Hall.
