Seemingly in a blink of an eye, Extell Development has erected the structural frame of The Kent, the firm’s latest Upper East Side condo to launch sales. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle, the architecture of the building is to be reminiscent of New York City’s Art Deco movement of the 1920s. The 30-story, 393-foot building will mark the sky with an ensemble of setbacks terraces, whose corners will be marked by lanterns and upright masts. The building will meet the ground in a similarly traditional fashion —greeting passersby with a warm limestone facing, black metal window-frames, and a brass canopy. Both Yorkville and the Carnegie Hill neighborhoods were once considered too remote by many but with the Second Avenue subway pulling the area into mainstream Manhattan, this is no longer a concern. Inside, the Kent will feature two- to five-bedroom residences designed by Alexandra Champalimaud. Interiors are to “echo the classic elegance and grandeur of the Upper East Side." Each will feature over-sized windows, custom millwork and hardware, 15-foot ceilings and a choice of either ebonized or brushed oak flooring. Eat-in kitchens will come dressed in one of three different elegant color palettes, Ivory, Opal, and Onyx, and will be outfitted with custom cabinetry —with mesh accented upper glass doors, integrated Miele appliances, Sub-Zero wine storage (in most), and premium Dornbracht fittings.
The full-service lifestyle package will include an interactive indoor/ outdoor children’s playroom called “Camp Kent”, a state-of-the-art fitness center and the “Garden Salon”, a room designed as an extension of the home with a fireplace, billiard table, library, catering kitchen, and an adjacent, landscaped courtyard designed by West 8 landscape architects.

Active availabilities in the building include 1,500-square-foot, two-bedroom homes priced from $2.575 million; 1,750-square-foot, three-bedroom homes starting from $3.548 million, and a 4-bedroom and a 5-bedroom priced at $6.07 million and $8.279 million respectively. The Kent will have a total of 104 family-sized homes and aims to achieve a sellout of $535 million, according to the condo offering submitted to the AG’s office. Occupancy is anticipated by the end of 2017.
