The vacant lot at 1425 Fulton Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant has been used as a flea market in recent years, but vendors will have to find a new location now that permits have been filed for a nine-story building that, according to a rendering from JRM Construction Management, will tower over its nearest neighbors. United Management is at the helm of the project, which will feature a custom masonry facade, punched windows, and a modern block and plank structure.
According to permits filed with the city, there will be nearly 2,100 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and 34 studio through two-bedroom apartments on top. The average unit size of 674 square feet suggests rentals. Amenities will include a fitness center, recreation room, pet spa, package room, and bike room. The restaurants and services of Fulton Street are right out the front door (including a Super Food Town across the street), and the site is only two blocks from the Kingston-Throop Aves. subway stop.
