The Williamsburg building boom of recent years has predominantly stuck to two different styles: futuristic glass towers or modern interpretations of historic Brooklyn buildings. However, the rental coming to 146 Bayard Street seems to be taking its design cues from upscale suburbia: Architect Skytop Design Group describes the project as “#munich to #brooklyn” on an Instagram post showing a half-timbered six-story building with heavy timbers on all corners and between floors, Allemanic woman decorations, and distinct roofs surrounding what appears to be a roof deck. An earlier rendering showed the roof surrounding the top floors in one unbroken line.
Many of the 46 apartments will have private balconies, and plans filed with the city state that amenities will include a lounge, laundry room, and 19 parking places. The building will not have a fitness center, but that hardly seems necessary: 146 Bayard Street is two blocks from McCarren Park’s pool and track. The best of Williamsburg can be found in one direction, and the best of Greenpoint in another: It is a short walk from The Richardson, Da Francesco, and Ringolevio. When it’s time to leave, the building is conveniently located between the Graham Avenue L and Nassau Avenue G subway stops.
