Back in August, designer Joshua Felix of J. Goldman Design / BEAM Architects gave us an inside look at their inventive rental project on Stanhope Street. Now the designer is shaping the interiors of a four-story, seven-unit rental at 836 Monroe Street in Bed-Stuy's Ocean Hill.
Renderings published on Felix’s Instagram feed show the exterior will be a symmetrical affair of brick, metal frames, and varying textures. The muted facade will contrast the interiors that will burst with colorful accents. The images show an entry corridor fitted with corrugated metal and a ceiling brightened by a gradient of panels.

Unit numbers are emblazoned across apartment doors for those drunken nights when it’s a chore to make out which of the 8 apartments is yours. Celebrate New Year’s Eve every night in your compact kitchen embellished by a confetti-colored backsplash. The afterparty continues in the bathroom where a herringbone pattern of tiles make showering a psychedelic thrill.
Building permits were filed back in spring 2016 and the project replaces a tired 3-floor townhouse. 836 Monroe is a short walk to the Gates Avenue subway station that is served by the J and Z subway lines.
