McGuiness Twins Near Finish Line, 55 New Rentals Coming to Greenpoint

Back in 2015, permits for two nearly-identical buildings at 215 and 216 Freeman Street in Greenpoint called for 6 stories each and 25 and 30 units, respectively. 6sqft brought us a first look at the renderings by StudiosC Architecture last year, and now, the design has come to life - somewhat. A recent visit to the site showed a topped out 215 Freeman Street and its unveiled facade, while its sister building looks to be topped out but has yet to get rid of its scaffolding. 215 Freeman's outcome (so far) is a bit underwhelming considering the lack of wood and grey-brick shown in the renderings, but is still an attractive development that takes cues from the neighborhood's not-so-distant industrial past.

Amenities for the new buildings will include on-site parking, a bike room, laundry facilities, and a recreational area. The rental-sized apartments will feature balconies and high ceilings. From the looks of it, construction will likely be completed in 2018. Yidel Hirsch is listed as the developer.
