The deal for Amazon to build a second headquarters in Long Island City only lasted about three months, but that was enough time for “the Amazon effect” to take hold on local real estate. That was especially true at CORTE, a new condominium only three blocks from the planned site: Buyers closed on 39 of its 85 units in the time the deal was on, bringing it to 75% sold.

However, CORTE may not need Amazon’s help to lure buyers for the remaining availabilities. The eight-story building is smaller than some of the towers going up in the area (ahem, Skyline Tower), but no less distinctive with its clean lines, contemporary façade, and Buenos Aires-inspired design by Dieguez Fridman and Beyer Blinder Belle.

Newly revealed interiors show clean lines and high-end materials that promise a simple, sophisticated lifestyle. Apartments average over 1,000 square feet and come appointed with floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, and in-unit washer/dryers. Kitchens feature Miele appliances, marble-clad countertops, and wood cabinetry.

Many units will include private terraces, and all residents will enjoy the landscaped gardens and relaxing roof deck. Additional amenities include a fitness center, playroom, residents’ lounge, and the services of a 24-hour doorman. Parking is available for a fee, but easy access to four subway lines may render a car superfluous.
The eight remaining units at CORTE start at $1.42 million for two-bedrooms and $1.915 million for three-bedrooms. According to CityRealty listings, this puts it roughly in line with the Long Island City median prices of $1.389 million for two-bedrooms and $1.973 million for three-bedrooms.
