At 150-154 East 23rd Street, a prismatic mixed-use condo named Celeste Gramercy has been steadily rising and is now topped out at its full 19-story height. Designed by the busy architects at ODA New York, the building will have a folding and bent glass and stone veneer facade reminiscent of Christian de Portzamparc’s LVMH Headquarters in Midtown.

The listed developer is Kent Chang of LKH 23rd LLC who picked up the lot for $4.75 million according to city records. Previously, the lot held two buildings whose ground floor tenant was Vercesi Hardware, a store that had been in business for more than 100 years. The building will ultimately stand 210 feet tall, which is the height limit along eastern blocks of the busy crosstown street.

There will be 51 apartments spread across 73,523 square feet of residential space and apartment layouts will consist of one- to three-bedroom homes, including penthouses with private terraces. Prices will range from $1.075 million to $8.5 million. An offering plan filed with the New York State Attorney General's office shows a projected sellout of $136 million, meaning the apartments will average around $2.6 million each, which is in line with the current median price of condos in Gramercy Park, $2.85 million. Cantor and Pecorella are the exclusive marketers.

Amenities are what you'd expect of a luxury development and include an outdoor pool, gym, yoga room, children's playroom, and a roof deck. Sales are expected to start anyday now and occupancy is slated for spring 2019.

This condominium is rising in a particularly active neighborhood. Across the street, construction has begun on a 15-story tower at 139 East 23rd Street. At the nearby 121 E 22nd, prices start at $1.655 million for a one-bedroom, one-bath. A few blocks away, Alfa Development's 200 East 21st Street is gearing up for a late 2018 opening, and prices start at $2.095 for a studio in The Tower at Gramercy Square.
