229 Cherry Street on the Lower East Side is nearing completion
Hovering over the iconic Manhattan Bridge, the 80-story condominium under construction at One Manhattan Square is on its way to completion. The Lower East Side building holds 811 residences which are now selling and the building is expected to open next year. This is a project of Extell Development whose others include the well-known Billionaire's Row condominium at 157 West 57th Street known as One57.

While the One Manhattan Square development includes a portion of rental units reserved for affordable housing, these units are located inside a separate new structure at 229 Cherry Street. Now nearing completion, this 13-story building sits right next to the amenity-filled, luxury condo. While residents at 229 Cherry won’t have access to all of the amenities at One Manhattan Square, which will span 100,000 square feet and feature a teahouse and treehouse, residents of both buildings will have access to the same parking lot. A housing lottery for the affordable units opened last fall and qualifying applicants were able to apply until January 2, 2018 and residents of Manhattan Community Board 3 are to be given preference for 50 percent of the units.

One Manhattan Square, located on two acres along the Lower East Side waterfront, has 45,000 square feet of private outdoor space, more than any other new development in New York City. The outdoor spaces include lush topiary gardens and a sumac meander and designed by renowned landscape architects West 8. Residents will also be able to enjoy the birch and herb gardens, a social courtyard, relaxation lawn and tea pavilion. Active garden space includes outdoor kitchen and dining areas, a putting green, stargazing observatory, covered dog runs and an adult tree house (equipped with WiFi).

Meyer Davis, the award-winning studio behind world-class hotels, elite private homes and Oscar de la Renta’s flagship retail boutiques, has designed residences that combine style, quality and function. Current listings show 1 beds from $1.192M, 2 beds from $2.055M and 3 beds from $3.557M. Owners can elect from two distinct finish packages (a light and a dark scheme) and each kitchen is equipped with custom cabinetry, Miele premium appliances and Dornbracht fittings, accented by a stainless steel mosaic backsplash, back-channel with integrated storage and stone bartop.
