192 Eighth Avenue now stands as a vacant 3-story building between West 19th and 20th Street, but recent buyer Gary Vinbaytel is set to change that with a new 6-story high-end condominium. In December 2016, Vinbaytel closed on the $8.3 million purchase of the mixed-use Chelsea building and a statement from the buyer's broker published by the Observer says, "“The purchaser plans on capturing the full value of the parcel by building a mixed-use, boutique luxury condominium on the site....From railyards and slaughterhouses, to galleries markets and museums—the West Side has seen a resurgence. Vinbaytel is just happy to be a part of it.”

Now project investor Dennis Druzhinsky has posted the first rendering of the forthcoming project. The website completion is anticipated for summer which is unlikely since construction has yet to begin. 192 Eighth Avenue marks Mr. Vinbaytel's second Chelsea building. He recently applied to build a 14-story mixed-use building at 128 West 26th Street.
