In a city where many new condominiums launch sales while construction is still in progress, prospective residents can be forced to make huge deposits years in advance and buy a property sight unseen. However, developer Ceruzzi Properties waited until construction was nearly complete on The Centrale, a soaring new tower in the middle of Midtown, to launch sales, allowing buyers to see the product and move in quickly. Construction topped out last fall, and occupancy is estimated to begin this summer.

The tower designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli beautifully combines Art Deco inspiration with contemporary elements. Its reflective glass façade is accented with terra cotta chevrons, and a series of crystalline switchbacks from the base to the sky create an eye-catching rhythm of angled reflections. The tower soars 800 feet and 71 stories high, but a 400-ton mass damper will mitigate the building’s sway for residents' comfort.

An accepted offering plan lists a whopping $578 million sellout, and The Centrale looks on track to meet it: One-bedrooms start at $1.85 million, two-bedrooms start at $2.7 million, and a three-bedroom is listed for $4.9 million. A full-floor, four-bedroom Tower residence is also listed for $10.75 million.
