An influx of rental inventory continues to flood the city. Over on Brooklyn’s East River waterfront, Williamsburg’s largest residential building is nearing completion. Known as The Edge II at 2 North 6th Street, the building will hold a hefty 555 rental units, slightly more than 325 Kent Avenue’s 522 units and 1N4th’s 510 units nearby. The building tops out at 40 stories, 400 feet tall and contains more than half million square feet of space. Douglaston Development is the developer and built 1N4th and the Edge condo towers next door.

Douglaston has retained Stephen B Jacobs Group for the design. The Edge II is bigger and glassier than its predecessors and inside will be studio, 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments. Many apartments will have private terraces or balconies and there will be several duplexes on the first and second floors. All units will have high ceilings, chef’s kitchen, spa-like baths and floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the spectacular views of the East River and Manhattan skyline.
Like other buildings of this size, it’s no surprise that the Edge II will offer the amenities that residents now come to expect as standard. Building amenities are to include a dry “floodproofed” parking garage for 160 cars, and a 510-car surface parking lot shared among the other Edge towers. An entertainment oasis on the ninth floor will come complete with a landscaped outdoor terrace, a pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, and even a lounge/party room. Other amenities include bicycle storage, a children’s playroom, a mail room, a business room, basement storage, as well as private storage.

Edge II lies on the picturesque and amenity-laden Williamsburg waterfront. Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Flea are literally at your doorstep, and there are art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, artisan butchers and nightlife all within walking distance. Positioned alongside East River State Park, The Edge III is also convenient to the East River Ferry terminal, offering quick and easy access to mid and lower Manhattan.
