325 Kent Avenue is a 16 story, 522 unit Williamsburg rental completed in 2017 for Two Trees Management and designed by SHoP Architects. Its U shaped massing is clad in copper at the base and zinc above, with a broad rectangular opening cut through the river facing façade.
The building is part of the redevelopment of the former Domino Sugar Refinery complex, between South 3rd and South 4th streets and just north of the Williamsburg Bridge. Stepped wings enclose a landscaped courtyard with a long water feature, while the preserved 1882 refinery building stands to the north. Domino Park is across Kent Avenue along the East River.
High ceilings and in-unit laundry are standard, and private outdoor space recurs in both courtyard facing and outward facing layouts. Several studios use separate kitchens, while terraces also accompany larger floor plans. Depending on orientation and elevation, apartments look toward the landscaped courtyard, Williamsburg Bridge, East River, Brooklyn, or Midtown Manhattan. The rental program includes rent stabilized apartments, and 104 homes were designated as affordable housing when the building opened.
