Prominent architect and former Yale School of Architecture dean Paul Rudolph only designed three New York buildings, but each one is a design-lover's dream. The Modulightor Building on East 58th Street is now home to the Paul Rudolph Heritage Foundation. 23 Beekman Place, the townhouse where Mr. Rudolph designed and constructed a cantilevered, four-story penthouse addition, is now a New York City landmark. And 101 East 63rd Street, a carriage house turned townhouse in 1966, is on the market for $24 million.

The 7,500-square-foot townhouse comes with four bedrooms, five baths, and a rich history: Designer Halston moved into it in 1974, and Andy Warhol was among the many celebrity guests over the next 15 years. The artistic tradition continued with its most recent owner, photographer Gunter Sachs, but its time on the market has been at prices better suited for executives: It was listed for $40 million in 2015, reduced to $28 million in November 2016, and most recently reduced to $24 million.
