Price Cuts: 'Shaft' star shaves $4M off River Mansion; Double-digit discounts on Central Park homes

From October 4 to October 10, 2023, a total of 284 sales listings across core New York City areas underwent price reductions, a decrease of around 100 fewer price cuts compared to the previous week. Notable among the discounts was a beautifully renovated Greenwich Village mansion meticulously reimagined by Clodagh Design and several prestigious properties overlooking Central Park. Additionally, a grand 35-foot-wide Beaux Arts townhouse on Riverside Drive, nicknamed "The River Mansion," faced a substantial $4 million price reduction last week. It is owned by philanthropist and actor Sherry Bronfman, who co-starred in the 1971 film "Shaft," and was put on the market in May for $24 million.

This exquisite 10,000-square-foot mansion received significant attention as this year's host of the
Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York from May 11 - June 6, 2023. Now in its 48th year, the annual design event featured the work of 22 designers and architects and raised funds for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. According to the New York Post , the mansion was originally purchased by Edgar Bronfman Jr., the billionaire heir to the Seagram fortune, in 1971 for $5.6 million, and it served as the family's residence.
