For all of Mayor Eric Adams' proclamations that "you can't stay home in your pajamas all day," some form of hybrid work seems to have emerged as the new normal: According to a new study by the Partnership for New York City, only 8% of Manhattan office workers are back in the office five days a week. As there have been rumblings about a possible fifth coronavirus wave, that number does not seem likely to tick up in the near future. And even if that does not bear out, the coming Memorial Day weekend has traditionally marked the beginning of flexible summer arrangements (think summer Fridays) in offices all over New York.

With work-from-home showing no sign of fading away, New Yorkers' homes need to be as convenient and appealing as possible. Private outdoor space is especially appealing as the days get nicer, and conveniences like a dishwasher or even an in-unit washer/dryer are highly coveted features all year round. Moreover, while a person could theoretically take a break to work out at the local gym, that's a lot easier to do with a gym in the building. Such perks are not imagined to come cheap, but we found listings at $1 million and under.
