230 Riverside Drive is a stately 19-story prewar building erected in 1931 by Ralph Ciluzzi and designed by architect Charles H. Lench. The red-brick tower features distinctive architectural elements including chamfered corners with delicate quoins, terracotta band courses, gargoyles adorning the rooftop water tank enclosure, and handsome arched windows on upper floors.
The building was converted to condominiums in 2004 with H. Thomas O'Hara serving as the conversion architect. The 269-unit building underwent significant updates including a 2011 lobby renovation in Art Deco style featuring Botticino stone, mosaic flooring, and crystal chandeliers.
Residential units are characterized by prewar details including beamed ceilings and arched doorways. The full-service building offers a comprehensive amenity package including 24-hour doorman service, a fitness center, children's playroom, bicycle storage, private storage, and a landscaped courtyard. A live-in superintendent maintains the property.
Situated at the corner of 95th Street, the building enjoys a prime Upper West Side location directly across from Riverside Park and the Hudson River Promenade. The location provides convenient access to the 96th Street express subway station (1,2,3 trains) and various neighborhood amenities.
