Less than a year after the penthouse at The Tulip Building set a new record with a $49,000,000 closing price, another high-priced Soho sale made headlines: The past week's top sale was the triplex penthouse at 49 Greene Street, which closed for a whopping $32,664,000. The apartment was never publicly listed and features five bedrooms, six baths, 8,000 interior square feet, and a 2,400-square-foot private terrace.
Not only is this one of the highest-priced sales ever recorded in Soho, but it is also more than the $31,000,000 that developer EMP Capital Group paid for the former manufacturing building in 2015. Founder Elie Pariente told Crain's New York Business that the penthouse went into contract in summer 2021, adding, "The unit would have been worth even more money now." With this sale, the four-unit boutique condo conversion is now sold out.

The past week's top co-op sale, highest-priced uptown sale, and second-highest sale overall took place at 660 Park Avenue, where cosmetics heiress and lifestyle/fashion entrepreneur Aerin Lauder sold her full-floor apartment for $19,500,000. The Real Deal announced that the sale took place in an off-market deal and that buyer Philip Berlinski, CEO of Goldman Sachs Bank USA and global treasurer of Goldman Sachs, paid for the unit in cash. Ms. Lauder had lived in the Park Avenue apartment for more than 20 years, but told Elle Decor, "A new chapter is always exciting and fun."
