Even before the first residents moved in, the American Copper Buildings complex racked up one distinction after another: home of New York’s highest skybridge, most eye-catching new addition to the East Side skyline, and top 10 rental buildings of 2017, to name a few. In three weeks’ time, it will garner further attention as the home of The Sentry, New York’s newest members-only club with a rooftop pool overlooking some of New York’s most amazing East River views.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends, the private club will offer special events like morning yoga classes, pool meditations, and guided astronomy sessions. The food and beverage program will include day and night menus by Hole in the Wall’s executive chef Brent Hudson. Membership tiers range from $1,600 for a Silver membership with six guest passes to $3,200 for a Copper membership with unlimited guest passes and event discounts.

While The Sentry’s capacity is just over 200, the amenities of American Copper Buildings make residents feel as if they’re already living in a private club. After all, where else could one have access to a skybridge lap pool and lounge, fitness center with rock climbing wall, hammam and hot tub, and top-flight concierge service? Additional amenities include a catering kitchen, juice bar, children’s playroom, pet spa, landscaped park and fountain, sheltered port-cochere with valet parking, bike room, and storage. Apartments offer a similarly luxurious atmosphere with features like floor-to-ceiling windows, soaring ceilings, Nest temperature control, in-unit washer/dryer, custom kitchen with Miele appliances, and statuary marble baths.
An article in The New York Times noted that developer JDS Development Group received 79,000 applications for 100 affordable units. Current market-rate availabilities start at $3,729/month for studios, $4,611/month for one-bedrooms, $6,369/month for two-bedrooms, and $8,960/month for three-bedrooms. All prices are net effective, indicating a rent concession.
