812 Fifth Avenue is a 19-story cooperative building erected in 1963 with 30 apartments and an elegant limestone facade. The building features a symmetrical terraced design and is notable for its connection to Nelson Rockefeller's expanded apartment complex.
812 Fifth Avenue is an 18 story, 30 residence co-op completed in 1963 directly across Fifth Avenue from Central Park. Architect Robert L. Bien gave the post-war building a largely limestone avenue façade, with symmetrical terraces and upper floor setbacks that align with architectural elements of neighboring 810 Fifth Avenue. It replaced three townhouses formerly on the site.
Many apartments pair broad Central Park exposures and oversized picture windows with formal galleries, dining rooms and libraries, while east facing rooms overlook the city. Large flexible floor plans recur, along with central air conditioning and in-unit laundry. The most unusual configuration is a bi-level maisonette with access through the lobby and directly from Fifth Avenue, plus a 1,440 square foot garden terrace opening from its principal rooms.
The building has a 24 hour doorman, concierge, live-in resident manager, gym, central laundry room and storage. Pied-à-terre ownership and up to 50 percent financing are permitted, and electricity is included in maintenance. The address is on Fifth Avenue between 62nd and 63rd Streets, with Central Park opposite and Madison Avenue shops and restaurants one block east.

For some co-ops, instead of price per square foot, we use an estimate of the number of rooms for each sold apartment to chart price changes over time. This is because many co-op listings do not include square footage information, and this makes it challenging to calculate accurate square-foot averages.
By displaying the price per estimated room count, we are able to provide a more reliable and consistent metric for comparing sales in the building. While we hope that this gives you a clearer sense of price trends in the building, all data should be independently verified. All data provided are only estimates and should not be used to make any purchase or sale decision.
