All of last week's priciest recorded sales came from penthouses, with the top spot going to a $28 million four-bedroom condo, unit #PHS, at the new Herzog de Meuron-designed 160 Leroy Street. The 4,849-square-foot 15th floor home boasts 180' of open views, a wood-burning fireplace, 920 square feet of open space, and a dreamy and spacious master suite (800 square feet) with open views of the city and Hudson River, a midnight bar, dressing room, and walk-in closets.

The most expensive sale of August also came from 160 Leroy, where another penthouse sold for $43.5 million, according to our latest market report. And in July, the condo was deemed the top-selling building, beating One57 and 20 East End Avenue in aggregate sales. 160 Leroy is clearly having a good year.

Switching over to the luxury contracts side, 16 were signed last week in Manhattan at $4 million and above, according to Olshan's latest market report. The number 1 contract came from 13 Harrison Street, where unit 2, originally asking $16.995 million in June last year, sold for $11.5 million. It's an impressive unit that spans 8,442 square feet over 5 floors and features 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, an elevator, skylights, and 1,600 square feet of outdoor space.
