As one of New York City’s most architecturally famous residences, the 11-story condominium building at 520 West 28th Street is the first New York City building designed by the late Zaha Hadid, the first woman winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize. The striking, curvaceous building contains 39 apartments and adjoins the High Line elevated park. Like many of the architect’s innovative creations, it takes cues from organic forms, making it a standout even along the High Line’s high-end architecture.
The level of luxury contained within is on a par with its internationally-known pedigree. The building’s curves conceal balconies, sculpture gardens and over-the top amenities. Hadid also designed the interiors; you’ll find glass walls, curved marble in kitchens, energy-efficient lighting and filtered interior air. The crown jewel of the building is a five-bedroom 6,853-square-foot triplex penthouse with a staircase designed by Ms. Hadid and a wrap-around garden terrace.
Among the building’s unique amenities is a private 12-person IMAX theater. A wellness level features a fitness center, private spa and a 75-foot skylit saline pool. There are also storage vaults with a private viewing room, a full-time concierge and doorman and hand-delivered mail, secure off-street entry through a drive-in garage, robotic parking, an outdoor kitchen and an entertaining suite with events terrace.
Located directly on the High Line in West Chelsea–the center of the East Coast art world–the building is minutes from Hudson River Park and the many cultural, shopping and dining experiences at Hudson Yards, including The Shed. On a smaller scale, residents can pop into Think Coffee or Sullivan Street Bakery daily. The Hudson Yards 7 subway is just a block away.
In October 2025, business executive/Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens' penthouse at the Zaha Hadid-designed 520 West 28th Street entered contract with a $35 million ask, the top Downtown contract of the week. Public records show that Mr. Edens bought it for $20.2 million in 2020, and the listing notes that he embarked on a massive renovation in 2022.
