461 Dean Street is a 32 story Prospect Heights rental completed in 2016 as a modular tower with 363 apartments. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by Forest City Ratner and Skanska, it was the world’s tallest modular building at completion, with apartment modules fabricated at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The exterior is composed of an angular red base along Flatbush Avenue, gray midrise sections, and a pale blue glazed tower that projects over the lower structure. Construction was delayed by problems stacking the modules and preventing water intrusion; Skanska subsequently withdrew, and Krulak continued component production at the Navy Yard.
Apartments have floor-to-ceiling, triple glazed windows, solar shades, central air conditioning, and in-unit laundry. Long living rooms organized around open kitchens recur in studio and one bedroom plans, while several floor plans add entry foyers; upper floor apartments have views extending across Brooklyn and toward Manhattan and Queens.
The building has an attended lobby, a live-in superintendent, a fitness center with yoga and dance space, a resident lounge, an event room, a game room, a children’s playroom, and a rooftop terrace. It is part of Pacific Park beside Barclays Center, with Atlantic Terminal nearby; the Atlantic Avenue station at Barclays Center serves the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, and R trains. The rental also includes income restricted apartments.
This "modern Brooklyn hub" offers "breathtaking views" and "impeccably maintained" living spaces in a "prime location" next to Barclays Center. Residents praise the "professional staff" and "top-notch amenities," while appreciating the "convenient access" to multiple subway lines, shopping, and dining options. The "well-groomed" property provides a "welcoming community vibe," though some note "street noise during events." The building's position at the crossroads of several neighborhoods makes it "perfect for exploring Brooklyn," with Prospect Park and multiple cultural attractions "just steps away."
