Overview of 151 Wooster Street

151 Wooster Street is a 1915 SoHo loft building converted to condominium use in 2007. The eight story property now contains 11 residences; Alfa Development undertook the conversion with architect Lee H. Skolnick.

The beige brick façade has arched sixth floor windows, a two story rusticated stone base and a large cornice added during the conversion. Renovation work uncovered an eighth floor mural possibly painted in part by Jean Michel Basquiat, and the Paula Cooper Gallery once occupied space at the address.

Residences are generally organized as roughly 3,000 square foot half floor lofts, with semi private landings, 10.5 to 11 foot barrel vaulted ceilings, broad open living and dining areas, and oversized windows facing east or west. Many have gas fireplaces, central air and dedicated in-unit laundry rooms. An approximately 6,000 square foot two level residence designed by Ken Fulk connects its floors by an internal staircase and has entries on both levels.

The building has a 24 hour doorman and a full time resident manager, and pets are allowed. It occupies a cobblestoned stretch of Wooster Street between Prince and West Houston streets, among SoHo’s galleries, shops and restaurants.
